I can highly recommend the teaching resources that Julie and her team have produced. I have used many of the activities they produced, and have successfully had non-STEM teachers delivering the activities too, in form time and on activity days. Our students enjoyed finding out about the real-life applications of STEM. If you need help in developing suitable materials for students, I can recommend that you contact Julie.

Can I just say to anyone wondering about working with Julie in the future, how amazing she is. Her practical action resources have been inspirational. Julie understands how to make global learning understandable and relevant all. Happy to act as referee if you want to know more. So feel free to contact me

A highly skilled, creative STEM educator whose skills include working with diverse teams to develop award winning STEM education resources and training materials. Also experienced in managing all aspects of large projects with multiple partners including event management, budgets and evaluation. A natural collaborator, I have developed productive relationships with stakeholders in STEM education, and have a proven track record of successfully marketing materials both online and face to face. As the newly formed partnership 'STEM Matters', my colleague Bren Hellier and I are the regional support organisation for CREST Awards in the East Midlands and looking for other interesting opportunities to support science and STEM teaching. I lead a small team which support the teaching of STEM, science and D&T at both primary and secondary level by providing free, innovative resources. Based on enquiry based and global learning methodologies these help pupils understand how science and technolgoy can lift people out of poverty, and how their own actions can have an impact on the developing world. My team works with a number of partners including the British Science Association, the Association for Science Education and Design and Technology Association to ensure our materials are in line with current education practice and to reach as many teachers as possible! I am also involved in EU funded projects and at the moment we are partners with Hull University and 8 other European partners in a project called Girls into Global STEM (see below for more details) Show less

I managed the whynotchemeng campaign which promotes chemical engineering as a career choice to students. I was also involved in promoting the uptake of STEM subjects beyond GCSE. One of my main projects was the 'Top Ten Flash Bang Demos', a video resource for science teachers, available on www.whynotchemeng.com I managed the whynotchemeng campaign which promotes chemical engineering as a career choice to students.
