Character Scotland

  The Career Studio hosts the education charity ‘Character Scotland’ and I was the Programme Manager for the charity’s flagship resource, ‘Inspiring Purpose’. During the programme participants reflect upon their strengths, values and who and what inspires them and use this new found self-knowledge to help them set informed and ambitious goals for their future.Teacher and pupil feedback reveals a transformational effect on those who take part and I also worked as part of an educational research study to answer the question: ‘How do we inspire purpose in young people?’This role required me to: - Work in partnership with specialist researchers at Montclair State University in the USA and the data collection agency Ipsos MORI- Recruit and manage the relationships with 30 schools, 40 teachers and 1000 pupils- Respond to teacher, pupil and partner feedback and refine the programme year on year- Manage online and offline channels to increase participation- Oversee and manage all programme logistics and activity Show less

  From May 2013 to August 2015 the charity ‘Character Scotland’ achieved record funding levels and was tasked with the delivery of one of the Scottish Governments ‘Legacy 2014’ programmes ‘inspire>aspire: Global Citizens in the Making’. The mission was to use the unique opportunity of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games to inspire and connect a generation of young people. Key achievements:- I was integral to the charity becoming the first in Scotland to achieve ‘Investors in Young People’ status due to the development of our young staff team- 50,000 registered Scottish Participants and 25,000 International Participants- Engagement in each of the 53 Commonwealth Nations- A digital network of 10,000 active participants socialising on character development Show less
