I worked with Julie in her role at Evolve Apprentices where she was Employability Co-ordinator. Julie put on one of the best employability/pre-apprenticeship courses I have ever seen, giving unemployed people an opportunity to develop their soft skills as well as earn valuable insights into the construction industry and achieve a CSCS card. She undertook site visits, guest speakers and lots of discussion. The session had people from a broad range of backgrounds, all of whom Julie had recruited for the course, with differing levels of experience, educational attainment and ages. I have never seen such an engaged cohort who were willing to stick the course and I am convinced this was down to Julie's approachability, passion, enthusiasm, experience and warm nature. Julie is a great project manager and advocate, you cannot help but like her and respect her. She has a wealth of knowledge covering employability, social value and business development. She would be an asset to any business; a fantastic team player and a wise and trusted adviser. I have no hesitation in recommending her and really hope we get to work together again.

Julie has done some great work while at Evolve, we've received a lot of positive feedback and great outcomes, within her caseload but also when supporting other team members with their apprentices who needed additional CV & Interview Prep. With a warm and fun personality, Julie has made this experience really supportive and positive for her learners, and it has been equally as valued within the team.

My intention is to support and guide young people to help improve their employability BEFORE they leave full time education and prevent them from becoming yet another NEET statistic. Through my experience and knowledge, I strongly believe that there is a huge gap in the market where employability issues are not being addressed early enough in schools. Employability training is not being positively implemented to encourage young people to change their attitudes towards the world of work and appreciate that:- • There are available jobs once they leave school • They are capable of gaining a job in the career of their choice • University can be an option, whatever the fees may be. Over a number of years, the UK has had a large number of young people who are leaving school and immediately becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) due to their inability to apply for employment or gain access to further/higher education. In addition the attitude of young people most certainly needs to be addressed by instilling confidence and motivation through the right delivery, encouraging a ‘can-do’ environment within the classroom rather than the more passive policy adopted by competitors. Encouraging students to participate in practical group sessions (CV writing, employability/life skills, volunteering opportunities and work placements) will almost certainly help improve young people’s expectations in the world of work. Positive Progressions main aim is to include everyone in playing an active role in the success of the young people of Medway. This will not just include the students themselves but it will encourage participation from local schools, local employers, parents/carers, community groups and society as a whole. The benefits to all concerned will be monitored and shared via a number of media projects to encourage pride and respect for the young people of Medway. Show less

    • Sales Consultant/Employability & Skills Advisor
      • Jan 2008 - Mar 2010

In my initial role with JHP Training as Sales Consultant, I was responsible for developing links with employers in order to promote JHP Training’s range of services. It was my main aim to help the employer realise the idea that vocational training can be used to enhance their future and skills. In May 2009, due to achieving consistent success in engaging both employers and learners as to the benefits of apprenticeships, volunteering opportunities and work placements, I was encouraged by JHP Training to take on the role of Employability & Skills Advisor. My responsibilities remained the same but I was more focussed in providing opportunities to 16-18 year olds to progress to sustainable employment/progression opportunities. This was achieved by providing 1:1 guidance and support to a caseload of customers and matching individual learners to positive outcomes such as employment, apprenticeship or college in their chosen vocational area Show less
