During my 9 years at playgroup I started off as a helper, assistant then leader. I was also the SENCO for my setting attending regular meetings with social care services and other organisations. I attended lots of training courses to keep up with the ever changing education of child care including the EYFS. I managed a team of 5 staff, took payments, applied for funding, meeting parents daily, provided first aid and safeguarding support, updated children's records, planned and carried out many activities including snack time, song time, story time, outside supervision, planning outings to events like Fenwick's window and a meet and greet with Santa! • Chair of Parent Panel
      • Sep 2003 - Jul 2008

In my voluntary role I worked alongside other parents to put together a team of volunteers who provided support in our local community. We attended and provided training sessions, applied for funding for events large and small including trips to Alnwick Gardens, the beach, local sports events etc. We worked along side other organisations such as Sure Start themselves, the local council and social care to support parents and families where and when needed. A local parent volunteered me for this role so I took on the position with great passion and a lot of support from the community. I was able to chair meetings, take minutes, book keeping, organised room booking, set up training events and manage a team of about 10 to 15 volunteers. Was one of the best experiences of my life! Finished my term once my children had finished with Sure Start. Show less
