I met Julie Garren in graduate school at UC Davis and had the opportunity to work with her at AECOM. It was easy to understand Julie’s rapid rise in responsibility within the organization. Her inclusive, collaborative leadership style consistently develops creative, high-functioning teams that deliver. She is an exemplary and respectful colleague with the ability to translate complex ideas related to project management, contract negotiations, or strategic planning and adeptly share her knowledge with others. Julie is also passionate about mentoring and staff development, helping those who work with her grow skills that support personal development and build capacity within the organization. Her unique combination of outstanding managerial, project management, and communication skills make her an exceptional asset to any organization.

Julie, simply put, is the best. She excels not because she's so awesome at any one thing (she's that too!) but rather that she's capable and confident at doing ALL of things simultaneously. Her management skills range from adeptly managing people, schedules, milestones, and budgets. She's able to talk, walk, and chew gum at the same time: thinking ahead to what needs to happen tomorrow, while keeping in mind what will need to happen a few weeks or months down the line. She can scale up these skills to multiple, large projects, while keeping an eye on smaller tasks. Julie's great at asking the right questions, being a critical thinker, finding resourceful solutions for challenges, and honestly, also just fun to work with and for.
