Julian was a brilliant manager for me! He is always supportive to his employees and he always makes me feel at home working. Through his guide, I was able to have precious chance to work on many things related to Business Intelligence and data which I like a lot, and it also allowed me to contribute to the company by utilizing my skillsets. On a personal level, he is generous, kind and a good listener and also a good speaker. He has a broad mindset and he is also among few people who I could actually trust to a deep level. I was so grateful to meet him while I was in Australia. Best of luck Julian!

Triatin is a Knowledge Systems consulting company. We supply skills and services either for contract or project work to agencies and companies. I work on contracts for agencies and companies in a variety of roles. As a natural "pre-sales" type personality, I am comfortable with deep technical work and presentation and documentation work as well as solution design. I have led and trained teams internationally, both as direct reports and as seconded resources. I can work as a contract consultant, architect, developer, analyst or program / project manager. A short list of my key skills / experience follows.SAP SAP BI - Business Objects Reporting suite (Universe Design, Web Intelligence, CMS, Deployment, Migration, and training development), Business Objects Data Services (BODS), Information Steward, Xcelcius, Crystal Reports, HANA, BW. • Oracle PL SQL, AWS Redshift and Tableau guy Sony Music Entertainment
      • Jun 2019 - Aug 2019

A varied role with my team supporting me, we are supporting the SAP BusinesssObjects services while also assisting in developing new modules for an older IBM AIX based Oracle Forms application on Oracle 11g. My Unix was rusty, but now unix commands vie with windows and SQL in my head (see what i did there - vi :-) ) In this case the application is significantly complex with AIX scripts kicking off pl-sql whcih in turn executes aix scripts. Multiple touch points but we manage to reverse engineer the code and I am pretty clued up on it now! At the same time, we have proved we can connect their environment to an AWS Redshift service running on an EC2 environment, with an S3 datastore. Like Azure Data Warehouse, once its set up Redshift behaves like any rdbms mostly, so pretty good to work with. Love the cloud architecture on both Azure and AWS, its challenging but so powerful and if set up right, pretty cost effective (for now). Show less

    • Data Warehouse Architect Sony Pictures Entertainment
      • Apr 2019 - Jun 2019

The time has come for a redesign of the data warehouse, adding aggregate tables, upgrading the SAP BusinessObjects universe and the development of a new Ms Excel 2016 based Financial Planning application using the Microsoft O365 based environment and the MS Excel 2016 PowerPivot, PowerBI and PowerQuery technology. Using the Triatin Augmented Basic Business Intelligence Engine (ABBIE) to integrate and update the financial data from SAP, Essbase and other sources, my data scientist and my team has developed a brilliant solution. • Data Architect Power and Water Corporation through GDBI
      • Jan 2019 - Apr 2019

Three month project to evaluate and develop the enterprise data model base for the mixed utility. While there are many models that suite power, there are few for mixed utility organisations. Using facilitation sessions we designed the primary information model across the enterprise then developed that to support the data from the various subsystems. I also introduced a simpler, consolidated data warehouse approach, removing the stove piped approach that was in place. Tools were SAP Data Services, Erwin, Visio, MS SQL, Oracle and source systems included Maximo, TM1 while reporting was SAP BI and Tableau. Show less

    • MSSQL Specialist for BMW Financial Services
      • Nov 2018 - Jan 2019

Developed data privacy solutions in Microsoft T-SQL and SQL Server Stored Procedures for client data in Australia and New Zealand. Needed to research the legal aspect of data privacy in each country and apply the laws in algorithms on the data, removing all identifying data from qualifying records while also skipping records that don’t qualify and ensuring non-identifying analytics of sales and service performance is not compromised.

    • Data Integration Specialist for Power and Water Corporation (Quality People)
      • Aug 2018 - Nov 2018

After we completed CUB and handed back to BAU in India I returned to solve some local clients when I was offered a role in the Northern Territory helping develop a new Data Warehouse using Data Services on Oracle from Maximo and TM1 sources (amongst others). As another Agile project, we are running through the sprints quickly, and have really changed our business users perception of the department by delivering value quickly. . #Utilities #Water #Sewage #Energy

    • Data Integration Consultant BW/ECC to Azure for Carlton & United Breweries

Very rapid catchup to keep the project on point, connect to SAP BW and SAP ECC data, convert to Oracle then CSV format and load directly into BLOB storage in Azure. Also develop a solution to read IoT data from JSON through Python into Azure.

    • Business Objects Data Services and Information Steward Consultant for Fonterra (Progressive)
      • Jun 2016 - Aug 2017

Helping Fonterra get the milk to market was fantastic and thank you to Alex from Progressive for helping me assist them. Fonterra is a great company with great people, I was fortunate to be involved in some exiting transformations going on. Working in an Agile environment, I was asked to build an integration layer between SAP ECC, SAP BW and Supply Chain Guru. After that project was successfully delivered I went on to assisting in designing and developing a Data Capability and designing an end to end Data Quality Management solution for the group, using Information Steward. What made that exciting was the ability to see the organisation put the Master Data Governance process to the test, matching up disparate SAP and non SAP environments around the world. We also had to invent new tools, like a new version of the Information Steward universe for reporting and dashboards. Fonterra's flexible approach to IS allowed us to quickly get some non traditional components built to create the reports and dashboards. A 6 month project, delivered to the new New Zealand based Data Quality manager in time and well within of budget. Another interesting Fonterra initiative was allocation of data ownership to business leads, not IT. Brilliant move. After that, some data migration work again between ECC, BW and legacy JDE as well as a project to migrate data from SAP ECC for Kotahi, to better plan shipping. Thank you Fonterra for the experience, especially the ability to see HANA and the newer SAP technology in action. And of course for the cheese and dairy. Great people, good products. Show less

    • Data Warehouse Solutions Architect for Sony Pictures Entertainment
      • Feb 2014 - Dec 2016

Starting with a complete redesign and retrofit modern data model techniques to an older Data Warehouse design, ongoing development and support of the Salebank data warehouse. The data warehouse caters to the Australian New Zealand sales, marketing and finance teams and is used for reporting and as a source of truth for many local systems. We integrate data from Market Researchers, SAP, outsourced operational systems and internal data to a comprehensive data warehouse with a number of data marts, in a Kimball style data warehouse. We then use universes to present the data to Web Intelligence and Tableau client tools in the form of reports and dashboards. I also needed to manage the merger of data between Sony and Universal as the two organisations formed a joint venture in Australia, paying attention to issues like security for no JV components of the business. • Solution Architect Australia Post via Diversity
      • 2007 - 2008

Design and develop Data Warehouse solutions for the Business Intelligence team. At Post, I ended up with two, perhaps 2.5 roles. While my primary function was Architect, I also ended up using my Data Integration skills to build a new datamart for their Workbrain Team Management system. the tools were SAP Business Objects Data Services (BODS) and Oracle, extracting data from Workbrain. Of course, I was both architect and bods developer here and also ended up designing and developing the universe to report from the data mart. As an Architect, I presided over the design of a number of internal solutions, including their foreign currency card systems, an upgrade to the reporting based management system for the sorting centre in Dandenong, and a project for reporting on parcel logistics. Again tools were SAP BusinessIntelligegence (Business Objects, BODS, Oracle and other secondary systems. Producing Solutions Architecture Documents (SAD) while also reworking BRD's to actually provide a functional solution and then designing new data flows and data models to deliver results, it was a broad remit that I enjoyed. Space Time Research produces one of the most dynamic tactical analytic tools I have come across, with the potential to usurp much more well known tools like Mosaic and SAS in the quantitative analysis arena. Because of its rapid cohort identification and the ability to retain and cross analyse cohorts, users can very quickly find hitherto unknown correlations in data. As the General Manager Pre-Sales, I developed demonstrations and presentations, helped the sales director develop a Business Intelligence approach to the sale strategy, Demonstrated to the clients how the product can solve business issues and developed Proof of Concepts for clients. We reversed the companies flagging sales and recorded a record $3M upswing in new business during the first 18 months of our time there. Show less

      • 2000 - 2003

Develop the Business Intelligence market approach for BusinessObjects, both through developing proof of concept solutions for clients and working with product marketing on new demonstrations and value add.

    • Product Markerting Manager
      • 1998 - 2000

As Product Marketing Manager I was responsible for confirming products met the client needs accurately, in order to facilitate the pre-sales process. The greatest lesson I learned in this role was that its always, always about ensuring the customer gets value. Find that thing that guarantee's value for the customer, a simpler clearer path to them achieving their goals.

    • Product Marketing Manager
      • 1999 - 2003

Create innovative demonstrations and presentations to showcase the Business Objects suite of software to prospective clients in any industry, any country. The real job of Product Marketing is to ensure the value of the products to the client is well understood and easy to present. Working with marcoms, sales and the development teams to produce the foundation approach which will enable the presales teams to match the product very closely to the customer need.

    • Product Marketing Manager
      • 1999 - 2003

As a Product Marketing Manager I was responsible for defining the messages to the local audiences. this meant converting technical information on features and enhancements to pre-sales presentations and demonstration material, defining new ways to describe the value the technology brings, both at a feature level and at a strategic level so that the prospective customer understood how the tool would work for them.

    • Pre-Sales Consultant
      • 1996 - 1998

As a pre-sales consultant I was responsible for developing demonstrations that showcase the product strengths in different markets and situations and then presenting them to prospective clients where sales teams have identified a potential need. Following that, those prospective clients that see a possible way the product can provide value would often request a proof of concept, where we again as pre-sales would have to show a prototype solution on the clients own data. Often prototype solutions become complete solutions, so we had to build them well. As we had both presentation and technical skills, we also became the company trainers, a role I have enjoyed throughout my career. Show less
