With 6yrs of experience as Client Project Manager for Oyster Yachts, including successful completion of more than 20 yachts with a combined project value in excess of £30 million, I was chosen to manage the company’s new prestigious venture of the Superyacht range being built in partnership with our yard in Istanbul. Total project value of €32 million for 3 custom built yachts for high net worth clients. Reporting directly to the CEO, my role was to liaise between the company and the client, also between the company and the build yard, ensuring effective communications between design & build teams, sub-contractors and suppliers in order that we exceeded the clients expectations and wishes, maintaining the highest levels of quality and the reputation of the company.

I took over from the retiring Capt. in Mallorca and sailed to the Oslo Fjord, Norway for the Summer season with the existing crew of 4. Returned to the Mediterranean in September for a cruise of Italy and France, before planning the Winter refit in Mallorca and preparing the yacht for sale. 26m Jongert - Privately owned ketch rigged sailing yacht, extensively used by her high net worth owner who visited every month, 12 months a year. A total of 4 crew, put together by myself for the 2nd half of the yachts’ round the world trip, re-starting from San Diego via the inland waterways of British Columbia to Alaska and return for a winter yard period in San Diego, before setting off across the South Pacific in March 2001 bound for Australia, visiting French Polynesia, Cook Islands, Kingdom of Tonga, Fiji and New Caledonia, arriving in Brisbane for Christmas. A total of 14,000NM.

After completing 3 years service with my previous employer, I felt it was time to further my career by taking time-out to upgrade my commercial yachting licenses. I therefore resigned from my position and returned to UK for the Winter, where I studied at the Warsash Maritime Academy for the MCA 3000 ton Master License, which I successfully attained in April 2000. Swan 651 - Privately owned sloop yacht, based in the Mediterranean, cruising South of France, Italy, Sicily, Greece approx. 8,000NM. Acting as owner’s representative, I worked closely with the brokers, bankers and surveyors during the purchase, and then later with ship yards and contractors during its extensive refit in Toulon 1998 where it underwent a complete repaint, it was then re-launched under its new name “XANTHIPPE”. During this period I was also acting as the owners’ representative for his 30m Jongert, which was under construction in Holland, making regular visits to the yard to monitor progress.

30m C&N - Private motor yacht, cruising Florida Keys, USVI, St. Lucia, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Antigua, approx. 2500NM. At 30 years old the yacht required constant maintenance to keep her a ‘talking point’ at every port we visited. I had a budget to take on up to 6 day workers between guest visits to assist with the work, which I supervised and also acted as watch leader whilst at sea. Whilst working my notice I held the interviews for my replacement and short-listed the candidates for the final choice by the Captain and crew.
