Julian and i first met at a conference in Okinawa. I approached him to see if OUP would help me with some research on graded readers. The rest is history... his team, personality, support and ideas were amazing and my project was successful. since then, i have helped him with Extensive Reading and advising those teachers he sent to me for help. tiday, he is a good friend and language teaching support person i turn to when i am working in Asia. Cannot recommend him highly enough!

When I first met Julian, he was the Senior Teacher at the Tennoji campus of Toza Gaigo Gakuin, and I was the Curriculum Manager. We met in the teachers' lounge and he immediately offered me "a cuppa". This was many, many years ago, in a different age and universe, it seems. The Tennoji campus had by far the most students and teachers of any other campus, yet despite Julian's youth he was an able and highly professional manager in what had to have been the most difficult of work environments. I found him extraordinarily knowledgeable of ELT teaching, and a more than competent teacher trainer. The previous Senior Teacher had left the position with a cloud over his head and a staff up in arms, but during the entire time Julian was there, the Tennoji campus was one of the few problem-free campuses we had. Julian was a joy to work with, and it is unsurprising that he has done so well for himself at his present company.
