I started with Jones Lang Lasalle at the very start of the Covid 19 pandemic which meant adapting to remote working methods and overcoming the adversity of joining a new team during the pandemic. I saw the opportunity offered by JLL as a great chance to find secure full time employment, finally have a chance to spend more than a few months integrating into a team and, most importantly, it was the logical next step up in my career in data. The role required an analytical approach to large data sets. The “masterlist” raw data contained large sets of properties and clients that JLL manages as well as archived properties and therefore needed to be adjusted before being of use. Outside of our standard business operations, I spent the rest of the time interpreting these data sets in order to reconcile missing or inaccurate data that causes larger errors in the system. To do so I used Excel to refine and present this data to report back to surveyors and directors. I worked directly with large clients such as Legal & General and Royal London Asset Management which not only involved meeting for client face to faces but also managing their needs and targets in order to make sure business runs smoothly for all parties. On leaving university, I joined the Norfolk Police Department as a member of the process team completing data input tasks. However, I quickly moved over to the case preparation team, a move which was unprecedented for a temporary staff member. On the case prep team, I worked with a number of different systems to produce legal documentation in a fast and accurate manner. This required a high level of focus due to tight deadlines and the importance of accuracy because any mistakes could result in substantial consequences such as data breaches or unsuccessful court cases. I appreciated the challenge that working on case preparation presented as I was able to grow my existing skills under more pressure than any other experience had put me under until this role. The last summer I spent with the council, I worked in a more advanced role helping with IT support. Due to the roll out of a new system, for social workers and County Council employees to log their work on, there was a demand for quick learning and good communication skills. This system had only been in use for 6 months so the workload was high and it required gaining a depth of knowledge in a very short period of time. When learning the role I found that I learned best working out problems on the phone and quickly became comfortable in stressful situations. Show less

I worked in a supporting role in the Finance Department. This involved mostly temporary roles but towards the end of the summer, due to summer absences, I was also regularly involved in reviewing evidence for insurance claims made to the Council. As well as this we handled day to day office business needs. These included sorting and delivering post, scanning documents and arranging data sets on Excel. I worked over the summer completing large data entry tasks for the Deprivation of Liberties Team at Norfolk County Council. The main tasks included transferring hand written accounts of social care visits onto the electronic systems for processing by the. carers. In this role learned to transfer and input large reports with excellent accuracy which carried over into future jobs. It also gave me knowledge of the social care system that eventually got replaced 1 and a half years later, which gave me a good perspective on the IT Team in 2019. Show less
