I did a wide variety of programming during my 10 years at AFBC. I started in the Outreach program providing crisis intervention and support services to domestic violence survivors living in the community and providing dating violence education to middle and high school students in 11 counties in southern Indiana. I developed a 24-hour crisis response program coordinated with local law enforcement to provide a trained advocate to a victim shortly after domestic violence occurred. I trained and managed a core volunteer group to respond to a safe location to provide immediate and follow-up support and connection to resources. I also eventually directed the emergency shelter program managing the 24-hour crisis call and shelter staff. I presented at number of local, state, and national conferences on the topic of domestic and sexual violence response and prevention.
