Working as a student extern at this new opened emergency hospital allowed me to see the process and difficulties of being a doctor in a brand new emergency facility with staff, equipment and space availabilities. Ultimately, this experience gave me insight on the perseverance, leadership and positivity required to start a new emergency hospital. It allowed me to see creativity being used to give quality medicine to patients under these conditions. This experience further developed my passion to being a practicing veterinarian and business owner in the future, one day hoping to expand veterinary emergency hospitals to areas in need. Show less

I was a student extern at this location learning from highly trained emergency and specialty doctors and registered support staff. I learned how to work up emergency cases, triage, talk to clients that were in distress in an empathetic and supportive manner, create treatment plans for hospitalizing patients, and how to foster a positive culture in a workplace even in the most stressful of situations. This experience made me realize why I want to practice emergency medicine. It allowed me to realize my calling of being an emergency doctor through treating and supporting animals and their human counterparts at their hardest moments. Show less
