  I began collaborating with Atef Boulaabi, owner of SOS Chefs, after we connected in her East Village storefront -- I was drawn to the hundreds of rare ingredients on the shelves, the welcoming aroma, and Atef's energy, which carried a warmth and wisdom complementary to the environment around her. I am happy to be editing copy, writing and publishing a blog for sos-chefs.com, and updating her online presence to reach an audience of more than 19 thousand community members.   I worked with Dr. William Morris to collect demographic and physical data of an evergreen herb in the Duke forest, as well as perform pollen supplementation and deer exclusion experiments to study the limiting factors of and effect of deer herbivory on the population. Data was analyzed in R to test significance of size and density variables on plant survival, growth, fecundity, and recruitment.
