I worked with Julia on two projects, the first being Process Improvement for Critical Path. Julia was very tenatious in getting to the detail of what makes the company tick and did a fantastic job on pulling all the departments together to form a single reduced production critical path. The 2nd project was a Product Lifecycle Management system, which built on the success of Critical Path. Julia was a key part of the team who developed an end to end Product Development system. It was a pleasure working with Julia!

Efficient and detailed are key phases that come to mind when I think about Julia. I had the pleasure of working closely with Julia for a number of years whilst at Boden. Julia managed the childrenswear technical team and supported the buying team to help drive the growth of the department, while maintaining high quality standards and compliance. Julia’s ability to handle tough suppliers effortlessly to improve communication and efficiency was impressive. Any employer would be lucky to have Julia as part of their team.

Taking on the position of PLM Project Manager was a challenging and interesting shift from my previous roles. My experience and knowledge of the business ensured that I was able work independently whilst collaborating with others to meet my objectives. The main focus was on departmental process improvements, implementing a PLM system and embedding PLM usage into the business. I successfully delivered a more efficient critical path template and process, functional office improvements saving time and money, materials and colour rationalisation providing clean data for PLM, and implementation of a PLM system which has realised a significant reduction in duplication of information, manual entry errors and general administration. As Boden continued to grow I was presented with the opportunity to develop a role responsible for ethical trade across Menswear, Womenswear and Childrenswear, which I accepted with interest. My objective was to establish ethical trade, strengthening supplier relationships, formulating policy and increasing supply chain activities to ensure that our commitment to responsible sourcing was met. I founded an ethical trade department, developing myself and a team of dedicated ethical champions whilst formulating and implementing a strategy to deliver continuous improvement projects, training and development of suppliers and internal teams, and robust systems to map and assess supply chains. In the first three years of reporting to the ETI our assessment grade improved from ‘Beginner’ to ‘Achiever’ acknowledging my achievements. Show less

    • Technical Manager
      • Feb 2006 - Mar 2008

At the time I joined Boden it was a relatively small business which gave me the opportunity to be more involved in product development. As a childrenswear Senior Technologist and subsequently Technical Manager I travelled frequently to visit suppliers and factories, improved product quality, reduced returns, dealt with all legal and safety issues and established a very capable technical team. My responsibilities included: training and developing a team of technologists, building supplier relationships, conducting audits, developing product specifications and quality management. Show less

Shortly afterwards I was promoted to a childrenswear role where I was responsible for school wear, dressing-up, toddler boys and essentials, tasks including; fitting, sealing, fabric testing and report approval, and management of critical path, quality issues and suppliers. I gained invaluable experience and an excellent foundation of training and development including international travel, factory auditing, legislation and testing standards. Show less

During my years of further education I worked part-time at clothing retailer, Principles. This gave me a greater knowledge of the retail sector, which supported my education choices and developed my skills in customer service, visual merchandising, stock management and faulty returns. My strong work ethic enabled me to be financially independent throughout my university degree. During my years of further education I worked part-time at clothing retailer, Principles.
