I was an an intern at Augusta Health where I assessed individuals in acute care, inpatient rehab, SNF, outpatient rehab and home health settings. My caseload included treatment of individuals with dysphagia, aphasia, voice, articulation and cognitive-communication disorders. Through one-to-one therapy sessions, I worked with patients and family members targeting compensatory strategy training, education to maximize safety, and improvement of patient’s overall communicative function. On a weekly basis, I performed clinical bedside swallow evaluations and VFSS studies to assess the function of the oropharyngeal swallow. My responsibilities included producing related documentation and educating patients/caregivers regarding disorder areas and treatment options. Within this internship I performed the following assessments: Western Aphasia Battery-Revised, Boston Diagnostic Aphasia Exam, Montreal Cognitive Assessment, Voice Assessment Protocol, Saint Louis University Mental Status Exam, Cognitive Linguistic Quick Test, etc. Show less
