Bio
Sara Webster
Julia has produced the best creative writing experience New York City has to offer. Using her literary expertise, she has hand selected talented authors to teach and guide budding writers. The workshops are modeled after top MFA programs and classes are fit to skill, so advanced writers are challenged and newer writers are not overwhelmed. When applying, Julia looks over each application and gives her own personal critique, which is a great touch. Included with each class are reading lists and guidelines which help writers read fiction on a deeper level. The classes I've taken, and continue to take, have helped my own writing in ways I couldn't imagine. If you're looking for a workshop, this is the place to go.

Julia is the brains and beating heart behind the Sackett Street Writers' Workshop. I first stumbled on the workshop on the Creative Writing MFA blog. The program was billed as the working professional's answer to MFA programs and it turned out to be just that. I've had the pleasure of taking at least four workshops with Julia's instructors now. Not only were they accomplished writers (all well known in writing circles, many reviewed in the New York Times Books Review) but they were committed and truly enthusiastic instructors. Attending these workshops pushed my work to a new level and I credit Julia directly for this. She goes to great pains to choose teachers with the same warmth and devotion to the craft that she has. She puts her stamp on everything, personally reading every application submission and responding to any and all emails sent to her by students. If you're looking for a workshop experience that helps you really grow as a writer, go here. Julia has created something very special.
