This was a fabulous education and by the time I left, I was on my way to Nashville. I am forever grateful to the faculty at this school, as their teachings benefited me in ways I'm still counting. It was, and is, a tremendous launching pad for any person who has the drive and needs the skill set to succeed in the recording industry. Working in Corpus Christi, TX is great... there's the beach, amazing weather, and it was a relief to be out of an MCO position and mixing program audio to broadcast. I was also the center cam operator, ran prompter from time to time, but ultimately I came to focus more on music during this time, and the recording process. It became clear that I wanted to study music recording, since I often found myself in the audio production studio. This job tenure was short because a spot became open at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS). I knew I had to go there, and I figured out how to move across the country and be on time to the first day of class within 3 weeks of enrolling. Show less

I as an on air personality for KFRQ "The Rock" 94.5 and KVLY "MIX" 107.9. Mix is an easy listening / softrock format station, where I had my first on air gig. After a while, I was moved to the rock format station. This was a move that was partly due to my request, and partly due to a more befitting format to my personality. At least that's how the PD said it. :) I loved working here, particularly because of the morning show talent, Big Al and Charlie. I grew up listening to those guys, and it was a real dream come true to be on the same station as them, and occasionally sit in on their shifts. I always look back on this time as one of the best experiences in my career. Show less

I was an MCO for KNVO TV 48 for a couple of years. I worked overnight, and did all the things (boring things) that come with the job description... (making sure the weather map was up if we had thunderstorms, played the commercials and documented them, as well as monitored the transmitter signal and digitized analog video). This was a Univision station, so all the programming was in Spanish. You learn to like the novellas.

My job as to drive around the station van for 96.1 THE BEAT... alas, it was the only hip hop format 100,000 watt station I think my home town ever had. But it was awesome... "The Valleys' Home for Hip-Hop and R&B". I frequented clubs where we held live events, and blasted hip-hop over a pair of EV 15's. I also operated a Marti system and hung out with a ton of cool hip-hop artists and DJ's. It was a great way to get my foot in the door, learn about broadcasting and I never looked back.
