With our store being well-known for its extensive produce selection, I work to provide an efficient, accurate, and customer-oriented checkout experience for the 100-350 customers I serve in a given day. I do so by keeping track of any daily changes in produce inventory, maintaining an organized system for our 3,900 produce look-up codes, and familiarizing myself with the appearances, marking systems, and packaging systems used to distinguish between the many varieties of produce items being carried. For instance, just the category of "Mangoes" alone consists of Kent, Keitt, Tommy Atkins, Manila, Champagne Manila, Hayden, Thai, Baby, etc. Many of these varieties also utilize 5-10 unique four-digit PLU codes used to ring up different sizes at different prices. So, if I come across a mango with a yellow dot marked on its skin, I'm able to identify that it's a 3-XL Kent mango with the PLU code "3581". Meanwhile, if a mango has a yellow circle marked on its skin, it's a green cooking mango! Show less
