Fennia’s customer service was heavily dependent on the services provided at the branch offices and contact center. This business model no longer met the customer needs and nor was it cost-efficient. Therefore, Fennia has been shifting its services since 2012 to the digital channels. As the lead architect I was responsible for the architecture and design of the claim automation, customer and partner portals, identity and access management solution for external users (i.e. customers, brokers and Fennia business partners), and enhancement and automation of fraud analysis. In addition to looking after the technical architecture I was coaching the business in redefining their business processes and business architecture, i.e. aligning their processes with the new required capabilities and automated processes. I did also requirements gathering and documenting and defined and modelled Fennia’s business data model for policy and claims management. Together with the SMEs and vendors I came up with solutions for the business units on how existing solutions and emerging technology could be used to serve better the customers, business partners and Fennia’s own staff. I participated in building the business cases for solutions and once the development executive board had given a go-ahead I was conducting PoCs, RFPs and the implementation projects. Show less

    • IT Architect
      • Jun 2006 - Oct 2011

During my IBM career I worked in several roles - IT architect, business analyst, consultant, test lead and project manager. I was involved in delivering tailored solutions based on Commercial Off-The-Shelf Software (COTS), custom build solutions, and business analytics and optimization (BAO) solutions. As a business analyst I was responsible for defining and/or improving business processes together with the customers’ business personnel. The goal in most cases was to streamline the processes and to improve the process efficiency by automating the processes either partially or completely. As an IT architect I was in charge of the analysis and implementation projects with local and international teams. I led technical teams in various projects and was responsible for the overall solution delivery and technical quality of the solutions. I also participated in preparation of several major proposals for projects in the financial, consumer electronics and public sectors consisting of hardware, software, services, maintenance and consulting. I worked as software architect, business analyst and team leader in customization and deployment projects of Finantix Components software to major financial institutions in Europe, Asia and South Africa (e.g. HSBC, Bank of China Hong Kong, Standard Chartered Bank, Banca Popolare di Milano, Credit Suisse, FNB). In all of these projects I was the customer facing architect defining the solution together with the customer business and IT personnel and acted as the link between the team working on site and the development factory at Finantix headquarters. I acquired a lot of experience in international projects and business travel in these assignments. In addition, I participated in pre-sales and sales activities, and provided extensive training to customers. In most of the projects my responsibility was to do requirements gathering, design the architecture and integration of Finantix Components software to various backend and other systems of the banks and to supervise/lead the implementation and testing.
