How I got into the business of performing arts was purely the result of my brother's initiative. Sami has been running his company, Sami Kojonen Ky, well over ten years with huge success. He has grown the company from an actor's freelancer business into a company providing a wide range of services from individual artists' performances to full scale arts productions for companies and live audiences.Together we started a new professional theatre, Kuopion Uusi Kesäteatteri, in 2010. In the following eight years we have succeeded in providing live entertainment for enthusiastic audiences of more than 60,000 people. Our theatre brand is already well-known all over Finland. As a producer in the company I built a comprehensive services offering for customers including catering, lake sea cruises, accomodation and live theatre entertainment. Extensive and skillful media coverage was one of the key drivers for a successful breakthrough on the market. The second step in our strategic plan was the setup of a new company, Tahtiteatteri Oy, which started its operation in 2012.

During 1999 a strategic tasks’ group was formed to build an IMS business strategy for Instrumentarium. Being one of the core members in this team, we built a strategic plan, which since then formed the basis for setting up Deio Corporation as an independent company and its strategic guidelines. These strategic principles are still today being applied to CIS-business within GE Healthcare. After the decision was made to separate Information Management Systems (IMS) -business from equipment business, one of the key challenges was to find and start implementing totally new models for solution providing. Key question in this scenario was to define the criteria and create a standardized process for distribution network that would ensure financially healthy business and continued growth on the selected target markets. This so called Certified Solution Provider –concept has proven its vitality during the time that I managed IMS-distributors in Europe and Asia-Pacific. The growth during this time was every year double digit, reaching at its best up to 88 % versus previous year.

    • Project Sales Manager
      • Apr 1994 - Jan 1999

I was recruited to Instrumentarium during spring 1994 and was given the task to construct a model of transforming business from pure equipment basis into project driven business including a strategic IT-component. During the following two years together with the key professionals within Instrumentarium we set up a solid model for information management systems business. I was then given the task to prove its efficiency in practice on the extremely competitive Finnish market. When joining the Finnish distributor company Instrumed at the very end of 1996, information management systems business was suffering from HP’s increasingly strong position on the critical care side. After setting up and organizing a solutions team, during the next two years in charge of the business I was able to gain number one position and 100 % success rate in projects in Clinical IMS business on the Finnish market. For a number of years one of the fruits of this period, Critical Care System in Helsinki University Children’s Hospital, was widely used as a global reference site for information management customers.
