When I joined, Suunto was a subsidiary of Amer Sports (owner of Salomon, Wilson, Atomic, Peak Performance and Arc'teryx brands). Amer Sports decided to divest Suunto and acquisition was finally closed in May 2022. This also completed my mission as a transformation business leader in Suunto as after M&A I wanted to pursue a new professional adventure as a partner and entrepreneur in 2X Consulting. In Suunto I learned a lot about the sports industry and especially about leading 100M€+ global SMB business under heavy transformation period: We were restructuring Suunto’s business, carving it out from Amer Sports and finally helping to sell Suunto to a new owner. My key responsibilities were: As the Chief Commercial Officer and the member of Suunto's Leadership: 1. owning Suunto’s full revenue and sales & marketing P&L own B2C channels (suunto.com), Suunto brand and marketing, 2. leading Suunto’s world-wide sales and marketing organization (100+ sales & marketing warriors in China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Australia, Europe, U.S and Canada, 3. growing Suunto’s own direct online store (suunto.com) and managing the impact of COVID-19 by accelerating sales in digital channels (own and partners) to secure results, As a commercial “Chief Operating Officer” leading business restructuring and Amer Sports carve-out by: 1. Establishing Suunto's own sales & marketing organization with performance oriented sales culture, 2. negotiating and building independent global distribution, 3. transforming Suunto’s business, customer agreements, and accounts to new distribution partners, 4. carving sales & marketing employees out from Amer Sports’s local subsidiaries and 5. establishing fully operationally independent global Suunto sales & marketing organization and business operation that could be handed over to a new owner.
