I managed both the physical (library) and virtual (Moodle) resources offered to our learners and staff.I have drove fundamental changes in the physical set-up, culture and operation of the area and the team working there. As a result, the library and project area is currently a vibrant and energetic area with the number of users actively using the area increasing by 100%.I have led on the development, implementation and upkeep of the colleges’ Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) which is Moodle. I am responsible for the design, content along with the standards of the VLE and support teachers in the effective development of course content.I have represented the College, to discuss its implementation of Blended Learning when required, for example during Ofsted Inspections. As part of the internal quality systems I regularly audited content within the VLE. Standardisation of quality was formalised with the introduction of ‘Gold, Silver, Bronze’ awards, which I implemented 3 years ago. This has improved the content with over 50% of courses reaching Silver standard in year 3 as opposed to zero number of courses reaching Bronze standard in the first year.In a direct response to the requirement for students to receive pastoral input within their induction on subjects around safeguarding. I developed and implemented an online course to be delivered during induction. This ensured all students received the same message and undertook the same learning, completion tracking also enable the college to gauge participation. Over 1600 students successfully completed the course in September 2017. Other online courses which I have created and are implemented throughout the college are those based on work-experience, safe-guarding, equality and diversity and equal opportunities. Show less

    • ILT Manager
      • Oct 2007 - Jun 2014

I had a pivotal role to promote and monitor the integration of technology in teaching, learning and assessment working closely with the curriculum teams to develop their blended learning content. I worked closely the Marketing Team and IT Team contributing to the design, content and promotion of the Colleges website and Intranet. I led on the implementation of new versions of WebCT and introduced in turn both Blackboard and Moodle to the institution. I played a key role in the development of an ILT Strategy. I took an active role in the Colleges Film Unit and helped to produce bespoke and cost effective educational film clips. I identified key areas for staff development and drew up appropriate training schedules, offering flexible and formal training from 1:1 sessions to whole cross college events. Show less

    • Advanced Practitioner and Lecturer
      • Sep 2005 - Jun 2014

In addition to the position as ILT Manager I also maintained my duties as both an Advanced Practitioner and Lecturer. The cross college post of Advanced Practitioner required me to mentor and coach new teaching staff along with ongoing support and training for established staff. I took an active part in the College's internal inspection processes which required me to observe teaching and undertake training events. I worked within a small team with an aim to improve teaching, learning and assessment within the institution. In order to be credible and effective in this role, my own teaching a had to be of the highest possible standard and reflect best practice and innovative approaches. The post also required me to consult and liaise with external bodies, such as OFSTED, JISC, AOC and others. Whilst undertaking both the Advanced Practitioner role and the ILT Manager post I maintained my teaching role. During the first two years in the post of Advanced Practitioner, I studied part-time at the University of Warwick and completed my BA Honours in Post Compulsory Education. Show less

    • Travel Office Manager and Lecturer
      • May 1999 - Sep 2005

I originally started my career at Henley College Coventry as the Travel Office Manager. By the end of the first year I was undertaking some teaching on a part-time sessional contract. This developed over a number of years with the roles becoming split 50/50. I completed the required teaching qualifications ending with my enrolment and completion of the Foundation Degree in Post Compulsory Education in 2005.

    • Gallery Owner
      • Jun 2008 - Sep 2011

A private fine art & photography gallery. Myself and my partner opened and had a great time for a few years with extremely well attended private views but the parlous economy and subsequent lack of local art buyers meant closure. The gallery was run on a daily basis by my partner with him looking after the curation of work. As I was still working full time, the role I took was more in the background, finance, dealing with artists (no mean feat!!) hospitality. Running the gallery was an opportunity to indulge in a passion we both share, it was a great experience, it made no money but we had a great time and made some great friends. Show less
