Duties include working with program and law enforcement staff to develop and pursue cases, and thereafter prosecuting and negotiating violations of New York State environmental laws and regulations; development and representation of the Department's position in permit application and modification proceedings; supporting Attorney General in defensive and affirmative litigation related to Department actions; interpretation for staff and the public of the Department's laws and regulations; training of law enforcement and program staff in various aspects of environmental law; and providing direct legal support to the Regional Director.
