As Director of Life Enrichment Services, my role is to lead, empower, recognize and motivate my staff, who are already established in person centered care and have been a huge asset for me since starting this new chapter in my career. They are exemplary. As one who serves my residents at HSC, my mission is to enhance their quality of lives as they desire through self-expression, independence, solace, and a sense of purpose on their terms. I am able to use the talents of my fellow staff and volunteers in the community for social events and fundraising for our department. I am also able to use my own musical ability to share. Most of all, I am able to engage less from a social work, clinical medical model type paradigm and into more of a person centered, quality of life for the individual approach: what is important to them, what do they love, what do they want to do with their time here?
