My work lies at the interface between chemistry, materials science, separation science, nanotechnology, microfluidics, device manufacturing, environmental sciences and life sciences. With the UA’s Center for Integrative Medicine I seek to understand, from a systems biology perspective, the dynamic human interaction to stress and the environment through measurements of small molecules, peptides and protein biomarkers in sweat. The knowledge gained is used to guide assessment of human health, well-being and performance. Additionally, I have experience with small business entrepreneurship and partnering with companies in the biotech, manufacturing, environmental and pharmaceutical arenas. Show less

Today material solutions can be as unique as the material itself! SOLVE Research and Consultancy, AB offers world leading expertise and custom solutions for comprehensive characterization, development and application of next generation and complex materials. Partnering with SOLVE provides a competitive advantage through • Flexible access to a highly qualified team of PhD level scientists with a diverse scientific background in surface and colloid chemistry, separation sciences, analytical chemistry, nutrition, functional foods and food engineering, rheology, in vitro studies, and clinical human trials • Leadership to manage long term and short term projects • Reduced costs associated with owning, operating, maintaining and continuous employee development associated with specialized laboratory • Outsourcing of routine analysis services We use field-flow fractionation as a core technology to separate a material into is different components to achieve a more complete characterization. A combination of online and offline methods is then used to probe its physicochemical properties (and their distributions) such as molar mass, size, shape, conformation, branching, apparent density, surface loading and aggregation state. This type of detailed information is extremely valuable to establish detailed structure-property-performance relationships which are critical when developing a product or product platform which exploits a materials novel or unique property. Our competency and extensive experience with field-flow fractionation separates SOLVE from other contract research organizations. We have over 20 years’ experience working with • Proteins and protein aggregates • Nanoparticles (non-spherical and spherical) • Starches, levans, β-glucans and other polysaccharides • Synthetic and biopolymers • Polyelectrolytes • Natural and engineered colloids • Food based materials • Polymers • Emulsions and foams At SOLVE we do what is best for you and your company!
