Nicole Lindner

I had the pleasure of working with Joycelin for over four years in her capacity as the Assistant Director for the Exhibit Experience group at the Exploratorium. We worked together during a critical period in the institution's history, a capital campaign for the relocation of the museum to the Piers. As the Finance Manager for the Program area, I worked intimately with Joycelin on all budget related matters as well as strategic financial planning. Her group’s budgets represented not only the lion’s share of the $57M capital campaign but also a complex mix of institutional and grant funded work. Her keen understanding of the intersection between budgets, strategy and programmatic priorities made her instrumental in successfully supporting senior staff and project managers alike in their financial and administrative needs. As such, she was an invaluable asset to me, my team and the institution as a whole. During my tenure, the organization also switched to new budgeting system. Joycelin was a critical member of the transition team, not only helping to conceptualize and craft the system’s structure but also playing a key role in its roll-out and user training. Needless to say, I would strongly recommend Joycelin. Her uncanny ability to always remain steady even during tumultuous times, her innate ability to work with people along with her strong financial background made her a true joy to work with. I believe she would be an asset to any organization.

As a leader Joycelin blends intelligence and compassion. She seeks out the best in her colleagues and both guides and inspires them to do their best work. I loved working with her on our team. I knew she would keep us on a path of success and reason.
