I worked as a Careers Coach in the Careers and Employment Office at the University of Hertfordshire. In a new Student-led careers support service, we offer advice to students on the services available to them in regards to 1-1 sessions available with Career Advisors, explaining to and showing students how to use CV360 which is an online tool that helps score and provide instant feedback on CVs. I can help prepare students for interviews by guiding them to the Interview360 tool, which allows students to practice interview skills on the spot in their related fields of work in real time. My other duties as a Career Coach are to help promote Career events on campus, such as Career Fairs, Panels, study abroad opportunities, and Inclusive Fairs. Being able to be approachable is important, and being in the same boat as students, i am able to offer advice to peers in an environment where they feel less uncomfortable asking for advice. • School Community Organiser (SCO) for School of Creative Arts
      • Sep 2022 - Jul 2023

I am the SCO (School Community Organiser) for the School of Creative Arts for 2022/2023. My responsibilities in this role are to act as the go between the Student Representatives for each course in the School of Creative Arts, for every year group, and the Associate Dean of my School. If there is an issue on any course or students require more support, we can help support them and speak to the University and ask for changes to be made to make the student experience better and less stressful. We are independent from the University, working for the Hertfordshire Student Union, however we have a big impact on making significant changes. With the support of the Vice Chancellor of the University, we can strive to improve the student experience. Show less

      • My duties within this shop related to the general upkeep of the shop, as well as making sure that customers had all the support and help they may need when looking for products or advice on what to buy. As well as this, I served customers on the till, provided one-to-one help for customers that may have needed extra support, alongside my other duties of restocking the racks and shelves, and general tidying duties to make the shop look well presented. I assisted the Manager when we made seasonal product changes and ensured all the stock was priced up to date. My other duties included making Balloon orders, and logging them all in a diary, alongside inflating the balloons and making them look presentable for the customer. Show less

Solicitors specialising in legal advice relating to commercial and residential conveyancing, landlord and tenant, wills and probate and employment law. • During my weeks’ work experience whilst in Year 10, I was responsible for reorganising the deed folders into the correct numbers, which took a lot of time and patience. I filled in the gaps where wills had been lost on the system and added in the ones that were not already on there. I also filed all the paperwork in a numbered system, took phone calls and bookings to see the solicitors, dealt with ingoing and outgoing post, including writing letters, and printed off important documents (deeds). • After I completed my one-week work experience, I was asked to return during the summer holidays to provide the above help and to cover a colleague’s holidays. At the end of the holidays, I was asked to return to help in other holidays. Due to them not being open on weekends they were regretful they couldn’t offer me weekend work; however they made recommendations to other companies for the future. • I have returned to work there for four summers in the same role with my duties becoming more and more responsible for key tasks. In my last summer of working at DJK Solicitors, I dealt with doing credit checks on clients who were buying and selling properties, chased up payments from clients or companies who had used our services but had not yet paid, and was successful in claiming the money back on each occasion. My role in this job was to keep Christopher as comfortable as possible with his medical condition, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which allowed him very limited movement. It was my duty to keep Christopher entertained by reading with him, sending emails for him, responding to messages on his social media accounts, playing games with him, going through musical trivia questions with him, as well chatting with him. Sadly, this job ended in May 2019 when Christopher passed away. I worked every Saturday answering the telephones, booking appointments on the computer software, keeping the shop clean and tidy, greeting clients when they arrived, making cups of Tea or Coffee or other refreshments they requested, as well as washing the client’s hair and preparing them for their Hairdresser. I was also in the process of learning how to blow dry hair and do updos for special occasions, e.g., Weddings, Proms, Birthdays, etc. Sadly, my reason for leaving was the closure of the shop.
