THE COMPANY NarrativA architecten is specialised in ecological Institution/Company architecture, mainly designing in a sustainable way. For each design, remodeling or new construction, the best combination of features and requirements that fit within the client´s budget is being found. The overall picture comes to a surprising and refreshing design that fits in the environment. ECOLOGICAL BUILDING The main construction material used in the designs is wood, in combination with glass, stone and steel, without omitting natural insulation materials. By the company’s choices specifically targeting healthy and warm architecture, they are delving into the minute details of various wood applications, healthy insulating materials, and ecological principles. The designs radiate peace and warmth, creating an excellent climate and good for the environment. Their healthy, pleasant, beautiful and ecological architecture fits very well with the new developments in the field of healthy and energy efficient building. SUSTAINABILITY For the company, the ecological aspects of designing and building new trend or fashion, but a deliberate and conscious choice. What does sustainability mean to NA? • Using healthy materials that provide a good indoor climate. • High quality value fixed building / architecture. • Demountable, reusable, easily recyclable or biodegradable. • As much as possible renewable raw materials for the construction, finishing and insulation. • Minimum energy consumption during the production of the materials and in the construction process. The above considerations left no choice but to delve into natural materials and in particular WOOD. Trees are used as CO2 storage. FSC & PEFC certified forests as ensuring the continuity of production for future generations. Wood is not only a durable product, but also a very warm and flexible building material and therefore suitable for our architecture. Show less

The internship was based basically in designing an eco-neighbourhood, giving ideas to generate different spaces but, at the same time, trying to protect the ecosystem. I participate in a multidisciplinary team, enabling me to adquire a great deal of knowledge related to sustainability. A broader number of drafts were sketched before deciding the final design in the large group of professionals, while the best system was chosen so that it would pollute the less possible. I took part in the distinct meetings held during the training and I contribute with my opinion and solutions. I was renponsible for draughting the 2D and 3D drawings and fusing together all different parts to generate the final result. Show less

Participation in the contest called Solar Decatlhon Europe in the working team Ekihouse. It was based in designing and building a passive single family house which had to be modular and prefabricated so that it could be assembled and dissassembled. 20 different universities could participate and in my case I belong to the University of the Basque Country with Ekihouse project. The main idea focus on sustainability and showing to the society how efficient building coul be built without polluting so much. During the two years we had to design the prototype, decide the best systems to save energy, take into account legal aspects and safety measures...It was not only technical issues, but we also had to deal with a large team and manage and solve distinct kind of problems. In this period , I was responsible for the computer graphics team which focus on the virtual images and the graphic design of the 2D-3D elements and the layout of the publication that we had to deliver to the organizers and judges. Apart from the office work, we had to built the prototype by ourselves (architecture and enginering students) and dissassembled for carrying it to Madrid the last month of the contest (the active month of the competition). There, we had to assemble again and give public tours explaining the proper functioning of the house to everyone interested and organize different type of activities related to the house. Show less
