Coordination of disability focused programmes, and capacity building of staff, in Uganda and Malawi. In collaboration with in country colleagues, I plan and coordinate the delivery of activities, support the collation of data to monitor and evaluate progress against agreed targets, and ensure the project delivers within budget. I manage the institutional funding pipeline, and research institutional funding opportunities. I prepare funding briefs to assess our eligibility and suitability for the opportunity. • Supporter Communications Officer
      • 2007 - 2013

My principal responsibilities involved editing supporter communications and writing constructive feedback to international colleagues who had written the initial drafts. Diplomatic negotiation skills were crucial to ensure continued positive working relations with international colleagues, whilst also ensuring supporter retention by adequately explaining how donations had been spent. I have travelled to Ghana, Thailand, Cambodia and Guatemala to attend international conferences where I gave presentations on improving the quality of supporter communications. I gained extensive experience of collecting case studies and photos, and building the capacity of staff to improve their content gathering and photography skills.

      • Jun 2006 - Jun 2007

My interest in cultural diversity, migration and integration led me to volunteer as a mentor for a Somali refugee. As a mentor, clear communication skills were crucial. I supported my mentee to gain voluntary and paid employment and helped her to integrate into the community by researching social networks and groups for her to join.
