Lutheran Home provided me with the opportunity to provide exceptional quality care thanks to the significant amount of resources and tools they allow us nurses to utilize. From long-term care to short-term rehabilitation, I was able to make an impact on the lives of my patients as well as their families. I worked as a nurse supervisor as well as a floor nurse as needed to ensure our staff was as effective and efficient as possible. I was both a team leader and a team member and worked with some of the most passionate nurses I have ever met-both new and experienced. They all showed a desire to make a difference in the lives of those we care for.

While working as a Unit Assistant (the equivalent of a CNA's assistant) for a couple weeks, a position opened up in a better department that I could not refuse. This position involves more direct work with residents of the facility, allowing me to utilize my people skills and brighten up the mood of the entire facility. This department is as important as any other. I focus on the mental health of the residents, making sure they feel at home and are constantly entertained. I go to great lengths to ensure each resident is taken care of which is an extremely difficult feat considering there are currently only two employees total in my department (including me) and over 150 residents to take care of.From Bingo to Basketball and reading the news to creating a CD for my residents, my passion for helping people means I am perfect for this position.

I started as a cashier but my managers liked how quickly I adjusted and admired my personality so I joined our electronic department and later the hardware department where I could put my newly acquired skills to use. They were more than pleased with my performance. As a new sales associate, I helped customers figure out what they needed as well as help them solve complex problems. As a soccer referee I was assigned recreational and competitive club matches for the park district. I was offered to officiate games around my entire area, but because of school, I remained in my city. Before soccer matches, I was in charge of gathering the two teams together, checking them for any infractions, and setting up the field for safe play. I would make sure each team was prepared for the match and that they knew exactly what I would be looking for to call fouls or penalties so they could make sure they remain safe during the match. During the match itself, I was in charge of regulating play and keeping things safe and allowing the kids to play. Whenever anything went wrong, I would be there to get things back on track. I was also in charge of making sure things transitioned smoothly to the end of the match. Finally, at the end of each match I would report the results of the match my assignors.
