Studying about the Hospitality industry. This course covers Subjects about Accounting, Management, Marketing, Applied Hospitality, Communication, Computer Skills and Tourism. This giving foundation for further experiences to learn. Also PIHMS does practical training, so for each year we study they cover a different area of a hotel. First year you learn service which is waiter's skills and also kitchen. For second years they learn about front desk and Room service (House keeping). To make sure we completely understand these areas we then go on six month IP (Industry Placement). Then in final year you will focus on the management area of hospitality which includes hosting a event that is for local people to attend. As stated this course is comprehensive. Show less

    • Studient/ Prefect (international liaison)
      • 2006 - 2012

This role as the International liaison prefect was to organize events and co-ordinate international student’s involvement in our school. An example of the activities I was involved with was a trip to Rotorua, taking students to snow planet, helping organize the cultural day event which is a stage performance by international students in the theme of their nations. The participation in the hosting of students from our Fiji sister school, which involved multiple trips around New Zealand to show them our nation’s diverse culture as well as a traditional Hungi done by local iwi. I was also involved with the school cultural group as a liaison when the school celebrated Wai Tangi day. I was one of the students to give a speech to remind people of its relevance to New Zealand. This was done with the support of other members to make sure the whole event worked. Show less
