Facilitation of innovative and research-driven opportunities for 11th and 12th grade high school English students to connect with literature in personally meaningful ways. This was to be my second year of full-time work with Guajome Park Academy, an amazing public charter school in Vista, California. In the 2015-6 academic year I instructed the school's two-year IB Language A: Literature Course as well as an 11th grade English Class. As part of my personal learning journey, I will continue to explore ways in which students can be encouraged and motivated to read with an emphasis in meta-cognitive awareness. This conforms with the IB mission and school vision to develop critically thinking skills in young adults who are capable of empathy with others whose viewpoints may be very different from their own. In order to create a more peaceful world we all need to learn that views and opinions different from our own don't necessitate an automatic judgement of being wrong.
