I have worked with Josh for almost three years, but it took me only three days to recognize his level of expertise in computer science and information technology. When I hit a wall with technology (be it the copiers, computers, fax machine, etc.) Josh is the first IT employee that I go to. If he cannot immediately fix the problem (rarely) he works hard to figure out a solution, even if it takes research and diligence. He has yet to fail. One of the best attributes that Josh has is his ability to explain the cause of an issue in a way that is understandable and not at all condescending. The amount of knowledge that Josh has about technology is staggering, though he doesn't boast of it or make us less tech-savvy employees feel silly. He is truly engaged in his work and is one of the best problem-solvers that I have ever met.

The Tech Desk's goal is to assist patrons with utilizing the library's technology. The Collaboration Studio, which is our version of a maker space, is where I develop curriculum focused on educating our patrons in 3D design and printing, 2D design for laser and vinyl cutting as well as a variety of other maker focused programs including circuits, programming and physical science. I've helped to create a new department at the library primarily focused on assisting patrons in the use of our public facing technology. This includes our internet computers, printers, copiers, automated material check-out machines and our forthcoming 3-D printers. I manage and schedule a staff of 7 employees (who all also work in other departments of the library) ensuring we give the best customer service possible, while also making sure patrons follow the library's various policies.
