    • Volunteer
      • Jul 2017 - Jul 2021

Volunteer Guide working closely with a co-ordinated team in the museum typically once a week since July 2017. Developed effective guide skills for museum interpretation, in welcoming visitors, shadowing front of house desk admission duties, presenting my own tours to engage with visitors further, providing customers with a strong visitor experience overall.Shadowed museum’s education and learning team on numerous occasions working with school parties. Contributed to the organisation and participated in running themed activity sessions and games, including have-a-go archery, and ‘Archaeology Week’ during the summer. Additionally helped advertise the museum across the Historic Dockyard site for the annual busy Victorian Festival of Christmas. I was most involved with the Lego brick-by-brick event where we constructed a mosaic of the Cowdray Engraving and Holbein’s Henry VIII portrait, assisting visitors of all ages to get the best out of the opportunity they paid for.Taught new volunteers shadowing me how to effectively answer typical questions from members of the public along with how to use the handling tables and stimulate a personalised discussion with visitors from there.Participated in Winter Training talks and tours annually, received extra research into the Mary Rose Trust where available, and took it upon myself to research the history and context of the Mary Rose story in connection with my university study.Effectively provided productive visitor assistance and care in a fast-paced environment during the busy holiday periods, co-ordinating with other staff and volunteers to keep the museum experience running smoothly.
