Coordinate after school programs for middle school students to participate in. Handle scheduling, budgeting ($150,000) and any disciplinary issues with students. Also I assist students with their homework on a daily basis. Last but not least I submit healthy snack orders for after school program participants. Scholars need a healthy snack to assist them in completing their homework. This past school year I spent more time in the classroom with the scholars tutoring. Also, I created a boys basketball team which was rather successful; next year I plan on creating a girls team. I enjoy seeing my scholars achieve excellence in the classroom and basketball court. This year I am teaching physical education full time. Students are learning the importance of eating healthy, exercising and teamwork. In addition to becoming a full time Physical Education instructor I spend my Fridays sitting down with students who currently have below a 2.0 GPA and devise a plan to help them obtain a higher GPA. I sit down with those students and put together academic contracts which must be signed by myself and the students. The contracts outlines the behavior of main concern, environmental factors contributing to behavior, function the misbehavior serves, students goals, positive consequences for appropriate behavior and negative consequences for inappropriate behavior. Contracts are revisited every two weeks to see what progress has or hasn't been made. If no progress has been made phone calls home to parents and mandatory after school tutoring is administered.
