Residential Energy Management Services Intern
-
Jun 2011 - Jun 2012
For the past year I have worked diligently as a Residential Energy Advisor Intern at the Eugene Water and Electric Board (EWEB). I’ve performed research, analysis as well as responded to customer inquiries requesting information about EWEB’s efficiency program offerings. I’d receive customer files to which I make contact, and subsequently set appointments to perform audits. These audits consist of a broad range of duties such as; crawling under houses and measuring insulation levels, inspecting ductwork for proper sealing and insulation, Inspecting attics to establish insulation R-values based on depth and material, investigating air sealing opportunities, possible heating and cooling equipment upgrades, lighting upgrades, appliance upgrades, establishing any health and safety concerns, and customer education. I would engage in conversation with customers about my findings and inform them about EWEB incentive programs. I’d then type up detailed report summaries of the homes current state, followed by recommended program offerings, and the associated utility incentives. I have also had extensive interactions with contractors through my inspection work. Part of my job was to inspect ductless heat pump, ducted heat pump, and insulation installations to ensure that the work is being done to both EWEB and Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) specifications. I became highly proficient with the use of Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and Access Database. My skill set also includes the use of energy modeling software including Equest, Wrightsuite, and AutoCAD. Show less
