The Emerging Leaders Program allowed me to express my leadership skills in a community-based project and learn new things about leadership, professionalism, and management. I was a part of the Business Knowledge Committee, and I learned how to network and reach out to different businesses to make a project. My team and I made a project, hosting a job fair at the Broome County Public Library. We wanted to bridge a gap between those who were unemployed and the companies looking for employment because we recognized unemployment as an issue in Binghamton. The job fair itself turned out to be a success! We had lots of people who came in and signed up at the job booths present at the job fair, and we were also able to feed many people by offereing free pizza.

NGD is an international 501(c)(3) nonprofit aimed at transforming the world through youth-oriented cooperation on United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By focusing on sustainable diplomacy through the 17 SDGs and celebrating racial, gender, and youth diversity, which is often lacking in foreign policy, NGD works to collectively end poverty, protect our environment, and ensure universal life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. With hundreds of members from six continents, NGD highlights emerging global needs with blogs, storyboards, podcasts, and posts while providing its member network with resources and support to launch local initiatives addressing those needs. During this internship, I learned many skills regarding professionalism, medicine, and what it is like working in the hospital. I interned in the Anesthesiology Department at NYP Queens to shadow registered nurses, surgeons, anesthesiologists, anesthesiology technicians, physician assistants, pre-operation technicians and doctors of all different kinds of specialties. I was given the opportunity to learn about the surgical processes and the science behind the surgical processes and observe surgeries on the heart, hips, brain, spine, abdomen, lungs, and legs. I've gained over +30 hours in shadowing experience by shadowing anesthesiology technicians, physican assistants, doctors. and surgeons
