In this role I have enhanced my skills as a bartender due to the complexity of the Botanist Bar. As part of the bar team I have been able to focus on my own personal progression, building a rapport with the clients and learning more about the numerous products on sale. I trained at the busy Spinningfields site, where I learnt the theatrical nature of the service required by this bar, whilst dealing with the high number of customers. I was responsible for the large amount of prep needed for each shift. I was also responsible for taking weekly stock counts and working together with the bar manager making orders. I enjoyed helping the new bartenders through their training not only on the bar but also their written test and specs. My responsibilities included training all new bar staff, ensuring stock was up to date and rotated where appropriate, as well as weekly stock taking and completing orders. I was able to demonstrate strong leadership skills, help my team progress and gain valuable new skills. I learnt how to make a number of different cocktails and completed barista training. In this role I used my personality to become familiar with the locals and I feel this helped me to develop the skills required of a successful bartender; communication, teamwork, remaining calm under pressure and being able to recall numerous cocktails recipes. I was responsible for the planning and delivering of sessions, ensuring that they were interactive and fun for all. Providing a duty of care for children aged three to fourteen. I was able to develop my skills in tailoring coaching sessions for different ages and abilities. I was also able to travel in America staying with different families, this helped me develop my communication skills and I am now able to adapt easily to new situations.
