As a Sustainable Design Assistant i worked alongside Architects and construction professionals alongside to develop the most successful design and material schedule for each construction to achieve a specific green rating. These processes are SAP, CSH and BREAM. Here I worked alone and with-in a group structure. The projects which I have worked on range from a £30,000 housing extension to multi million pound developments, with my main task area being accommodation. I have been introduced to new software packages Stroma, Elmhurst and Trix drawing solutions. This I feel has been a useful tool in an ever-changing society, and has been particularly informative as to rules and regulations that architects have to follow, and also the fine margins in which they have to work and produce a design of real depth and integrity.

My role was working alongside the senior architects and their teams. I was involved with projects all at different stages of the RIBA work schedule. As a result I was in regular attendance at meetings, ranging from initial briefings, planning agreements, design consultations, client brief requirements, and also in-depth structural discussion on the numerous projects. In addition to this I also was present at site inspections to a range of projects all which were at different stages of completion. The two main projects I was focused on were a new art and design block at a large school in East Yorkshire, and a new affordable housing scheme spanning across the region of East Yorkshire, ranging from small 1 bed apartments to medium sized family dwellings. Both of which I joined in the early stages of construction through to completion.
