I always look forward to working with her, not only because she is a tremendously friendly and relatable person, but also because she's reliable and impeccable with her word. The KanCare Ombudsman Office assists some of the most vulnerable populations in Kansas, KanCare (Medicaid) recipients, and we are currently looking for volunteers in the Johnson County and Wichita areas to join our team. The KanCare Ombudsman Volunteer Program is for people who want to provide a community service by assisting Kansans in navigating the Medicaid system and to resolve problems regarding their Medicaid services, coverage, access and rights. As a Volunteer Coordinator I recruit volunteers, train volunteers and community members, update KanCare Ombudsman Medicaid resources and Fact Sheets, assist in taking member calls, support Ombudsman volunteers, staff, and VISTA volunteers. The VISTA located in the Wichita office was responsible for volunteer recruitment, volunteer training, Facebook page management, create resources to increase program sustainability, and assist Kansas KanCare members with their Medicaid questions and issues. Not only did she complete a National Service year with the Americorps VISTA program, but Josephine also completed her Practicum for her Health Management Degree here.
