I worked as an ALT in Japan for three years. During that time I worked in three very contrasting locations; the rural area of Shiiba-son, Miyazaki, the city of Tosu, Saga and the fishing village Ishinomaki, Miyagi. Each position provided me with different challenges and situations. I relished the opportunity to work with students of varying levels of English ability and ages. As an English instructor I: • Motivated students and facilitated second language acquisition through the planning of lessons that aimed to involve all of the senses and engage every type of learner.
