. Place patients on ventilators; routinely checks and maintains proper function of ventilator.· Administer inhaled bronchodilator aerosols using either metered dose inhalers or nebulizers.· Administer oxygen using low flow, high flow, open and closed circuits.· Change ventilator circuits. Changes and adjusts ventilator parameters. · Set all alarms within established guidelines for continuous monitoring. · Wean patients from control ventilation and other therapies by adjusting rate, volume, FIO2 and other parameters within prescribed protocols.· Participate in discharge planning by educating patients and family to the specific, prescribed procedures. · Provide services to analyze blood specimens for blood gases, glucose and electrolytes.· Administer Positive Pressure Breathing, (e.g. BiPAP, IPPB), which consists of the application of positive pressure to the upper airway to promote better lung inflation and aerosol distribution. · Perform chest physiotherapy and instruct patients in breathing exercises.· Routinely assists in the transport of patients requiring life-support to and from referral hospitals. · Provides in-house transport of mechanically ventilated and other high-risk · Administer therapeutic agents such as Ribavirin and Pentamidine.· Provide resuscitation and support services to all high-risk deliveries.· Monitor effectiveness of therapy using non-invasive techniques such as pulse oximetry, end tidal CO2 and transcutaneous PO2/PCO2, in addition to invasive techniques such as arterial blood gas sampling.· Analyze and documents inspired oxygen concentration using various oxygen analyzers. · Assist in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation primarily providing airway management and manual resuscitation. · Document therapy performed and its effectiveness in the progress notes of the medical record.
