Joe is one of those amazing people who can keep his head while juggling the bowling ball, flaming torch, a dozen eggs and the proverbial chainsaw. I witnessed firsthand his calm, cool and professional approach to bringing order from chaos when he was a client of mine during his time at the Bond Market's Association. He built a hot-site DR data center from scratch which became a production site midstream during the project, and I never saw him sweat. It's easy to inherit a going operation. Any decent admin can do that. But there are very few people who bring complex projects in on time and on budget, but Joe is one of them. He's an asset to any client smart enough to hire him. I look forward to the opportunity to work with him again some day.

Joe is a terrific colleague. He is responsible, hard working, considerate, good natured under duress, continually learning knew skills and eager to share his knowledge. I miss working with him and recommend him whole-heartedly.

Converted preexisting data infrastructure from legacy systems to Microsoft based server products (Exchange, SQLserver) and replaced all workstations with Windows systems running MS Office. Maintained and aggressively updated that infrastructure throughout tenure at TBMA. Implemented, maintained, and updated network technologies including network switches, hardware and software firewalls, and VPNs, establishing reliable and economical wide area connections between facilities in NY, DC, and London. Constantly explored and implemented new technologies as they became available or appropriate. Responsible for 4 PBX installations or upgrades including associated upgrades in peripheral equipment and phone service. Researched, selected, and managed all telecom and data networking service providers. Responsible for data systems projects which were part of numerous facility moves and expansions in NY, DC and London. Designed and implemented a dedicated data center which served the entire organization from a hardened collocation facility. Achieved an outstanding price/performance ratio by utilizing best value technologies such as 1U commodity servers booting directly from an iSCSI SAN. Built a Citrix farm that served applications to all locations, including roving users, while centralizing and simplifying server and desktop management. Responded quickly, decisively, and effectively to systems issues brought on by 9/11 and northeast blackout. Worked closely with both systems users and TBMA management to anticipate organizational needs and proactively configure, replace, or implement systems to meet those needs. Show less
