    • Construction Supervisor NCO (E6/Staff Sergeant)
      • Feb 2006 - Present

I've had multiple different types of positions and have had multiple types of assignments during my tenure in the Army. More recently, these assignments would often require me to be in charge of, at least, around a half dozen soldiers at any given time. In these leadership positions, I have been required to take mission directive from command team, create a plan for completion, conduct risk assessments, and then see through the plan to complete the directive given. The leadership skills that I have learned through my positions have been directing, coaching, and mentoring of soldiers who work for me. The technical skills focused mainly on concrete work, with other rough carpentry work added in.

This project management position required me to work with contractors (and end customers) to address what is desired for a project versus what could be delivered. Working with project budgets, project timelines, project installation, and customer support after installation was all part of daily workload while juggling multiple projects at once. This is a combination of two different roles. In the first role, I started as a general quality technician that would work with the quality engineer, the plant manager, and process engineers to help resolve issues regarding product being created. With the use of quality tools (ie Pareto/SPC charts/Six Sigma), I worked to catch and/or resolve issues as they arose. The second part to this position was working as a quality technician in a Metrology lab. In this position, I worked with engineers to help develop first articles by helping them understand how a product can be effectively measured when produced through my understanding of GD&T and how it is used. This position also required me to research, and develop, continuous improvement measures.
