Served on the team assigned to manage the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) for New York State following Hurricane Sandy, with responsibilities that included conducting applicant briefings throughout the State to explain the program requirements to potential applicants; reviewing Letters Of Intents and working with applicants to determine the potential eligibility of requested projects; working with potential applicants to assist them in the development of their project applications; and conducting application and benefit cost analysis (BCA) reviews to prepare the applications to meet FEMA eligibility requirements. Upon FEMA’s approval of the applications, responsibilities transitioned into grants management of the applications, which included NEMIS entry and the identification of the potential duplication of program benefits. Primary focus of the site visit team was to look at and document flood damages to individual homes and small businesses. A total of 564 applicants were visited and had their damages documented and photographed. Damage descriptions and photos were then provided to the Xactimate Team located in Utica, NY, where a detailed damage assessment and repair cost estimate were developed. These were then provided to New York State Department of Finance for payment processing.

In response to the devastation wrought by Hurricane Sandy, Adjuster International deployed a team of more than 180 disaster assistance representatives and associated leadership staff to assist 1165 New York State applicants to document 4553 PWs totaling an estimated $5.5 billion in eligible damages to date. Hurricane Sandy is not only the most recent disaster declaration of a substantial nature; it encompasses all facets of the recovery process through transition to long-term recovery. We dealt directly with the post-Sandy reform modifications, massive damage including beaches, infrastructure, hospitals, transportation, and a whole host of significant other categories of work. We mobilized over 200 skilled personnel and continue to keep our federal partners moving in a positive manner. Show less
