    • Director of Ropes
      • Jun 2021 - Present

Camp Akeela is a camp for children with autism, ADHD and anxiety and is built around the needs of those campers. I committed myself to 3 summers at Camp Akeela rising from a member of the ropes team to leading it as the Head Ropes Facilitator. As the head of the ropes team I was in charge of 3 other members of staff. I was responsible for training them on the use of the ropes course and equipment, including life saving procedures from height. This role allowed me to work on my leadership and communication skills with those in my charge. I also handled scheduling and activity planning, giving me an opportunity to work on my project-management skills. Show less

    • Behavioural Learning Mentor
      • Sep 2021 - May 2023

Worked as a mentor within a secondary school. My job role essentially was to be an advocate and role model for the kids. I did everything from mediate meetings with parents and pupils to aiding children in therapy to helping to run the in-school isolation room. Day to day my job was mostly taken up by taking pupils out of lessons to give them space and time to calm down when elevated (be this out of anger or depression or anxiety) and try to get them to understand what was being asked of them by the school and advise them on how to proceed. • Parcel Sorter
      • Mar 2020 - Sep 2020

Through a recruitment agency I worked as a parcel sorter for a shipping company. This was physically demanding work which I enjoyed. The primary task was to take parcels off lorries that would pull in, place the parcels on the conveyor belts which fed into the warehouse where the parcels could be sorted by where they were going. I performed all aspects of this job from the unloading, to scanning the items in, to sorting them into their final destinations. While this job was physically demanding and very tiring as it was a night shift, I did enjoy the atmosphere of keeping busy but also the camaraderie that comes with working difficult hours with the same group of people every night. Worked as a bartender in a fast-paced nightclub and bar. Regularly achieved individual profit goals set by managing staff (comfortably making £2,000 a night). Also trained new staff on close down and opening procedure. Really enjoyed working with an individual goal in mind while also having a team environment of people doing the same to keep you grounded and compete with.
