Working in a high-tempo, urban retail space, I was able to utilise all skills I had learned from previous retail experience as well as taking on new techniques and responsibilities. Sevenwolves and Dogfish menswear stores are an integral part of the Norwich fashion scene, becoming a part of their immediate team allowed me to not only showcase all of my social, customer service and hospitality skills but also presented me with the opportunity to see new collections from many major labels first-hand. The two stores wield very different atmospheres, with Dogfish being a more relaxed, youthful space and Sevenwolves appealing to a more mature audience. I found myself working efficiently in both stores, coordinating and presenting myself appropriately in order to give the customer ultimate comfort and a sense of trust in their server. Each day would bring different challenges, seeing the constant utilisation of skills such as time management, 1-to-1 customer service, rapport building, working efficiently as a team, communication and rule enforcement. After roughly two years, I took a step back from working within this role to channel all my focus towards my degree. The relationship within the company is still as strong as it was when I was employed there, utilising this within my coursework when sourcing clothing for project work. Show less

Working amongst high-value items in a designer boutique gave me an insight into a sector of the fashion industry I had not been familiar with previously. Here, I learned a huge range of key skills, whilst developing on skills and practices I had picked up previously. The managing staff tutored me into becoming a very strong, confident sales advisor. Being that the environment was high-end, designer goods, this role required me to not only have the confidence to be able to sell high value items, but also present a wealth of knowledge for each label and item, drawing the customer in and in-turn closing sales. This role undoubtedly helped to further my entire skill set in this sector, I would find myself operating and directing whole sections of the store with efficiency and consistent success. This role rotated heavily around client-based experiences, with many 1-to-1 consultation-style experiences, from this I learned the importance of quickly establishing rapport. Show less
