I work for Stockport Council each year on Election Day as a Presiding Officer. The role has full responsibility of running a Polling Station and ensuring it is in running order between 7am & 10pm in order for people to come and vote. The role involes picking up the ballot box and paperwork from the Town Hall in the morning, setting up the polling station and having the register and everything ready for when people come. At the end of the day it involves doing all the account paperwork, tidying up the polling station and returning everything to the Town Hall soon after 10pm. I also have a poll clerk working alongside me and an area manager who visits the station several times a day to check all is ok. Show less
