  I trained for 2 years to become a UK Chartered and European Patent Attorney. I met with inventors to discuss their inventions, drafted patents and responses to examinations reports and oppositions, and advised clients on pathways to national and international protection. My role involved lots of forms of communication, each requiring different levels of details and industry jargon, for example being more detailed when responding to the patent office, and speaking more concisely and colloquially when relaying advice and outcomes to inventors. Patents had to be carefully crafted as one wrong word or phrase could drastically change the level of protection.
