Jose is a high performing and dynamic colleague. He has the ability to inspire others through his "hands-on" approach and continous search for improvement. His deep technical background and management skills allow him to support complex management decisions, seeking win-win solutions and allways keeping strategic goals at sight.

I have worked closely with Jose for three months while we were in the 2011 repair works of the Group 2 at the Lares combined cycle power plant in 2011. I have been consistently impressed by both Jose´s attitude towards his work and his performance on the job. His interpersonal and communication skills have allowed him to develop strong working relationships with all the team. Jose also has the knowledge and the analytical skills to diagnose problems and devise viable solutions. His ability to remain calm during stressful periods like the end of the repair proves his ability to work well under pressure.

Within the O&M Support Team of MPAM – Marubeni Power Asset Management, I assist Marubeni’s invested fleet by identifying O&M improvement opportunities or supporting return to service as required to ensure maximized revenue from the invested assets. This role involves different technologies – coal (CFB, supercritical, etc.), CCGTs, hydro, etc.) and different OEMs (Siemens, MHI, Alstom, GE, etc.). I have also participated in several due diligence projects providing technical input to better characterize new assets targeted for acquisition by Marubeni. In the case of greenfield projects my involvement has been in the development of O&M budgeting models and the analysis of O&M information/requirements to ensure adequacy to the project. Additionally I have participated in the development of several internal programs – to be deployed to the fleet. These programs focus on O&M improvement initiatives and range from risk assessment to major maintenance assessment and improvement.

Based in Setúbal-Portugal I was part of the Thermal Power Maintenance Group which was responsible for the high level maintenance of EDP Thermal Power Stations. As a mechanical maintenance engineer I would manage maintenance contracts – one off, frame work agreements, LTMA, CSA, etc. (Client side), plan and manage overhauls, participate in fault finding and failure analysis. I normally worked with rotating machinery issues turbines, pumps, etc.. but would coordinate or participate in the teams responsible for the whole plant outage. In this role I’ve been exposed to the diverse EDP invested fleet including Siemens (large frame and industrial), GE (frame F and E), Alstom, Kawasaki, Rolls Royce on CCGTs, Cogeneration and conventional power plants (coal, heavy fuel and gas).
