  Through my role as an Advanced Tutor, I guided student writers through the process of brainstorming, writing, and revising academic papers. This was achieved by using strategies such as: rapport building, question-asking, active listening, scaffolding, and implementing opportunities to build community at the Student Learning Center's Vévé Writing Lounge. Through a weekly and rigorous training seminar, I was given the opportunity to learn and critically engage in tutoring pedagogy, to work in groups to facilitate presentations, and to reflect on my own practice as a Writing Tutor. This criteria looked for candidates who show empathetic and reflective qualities, awareness of educational inequities, that engage with constructive feedback and demonstrate knowledge of academic writing. I was able to debrief and engage in conversations that were used to evaluate each of the candidates based on our criteria.
